Job description / Role
Provision of professional high voltage engineering support to transmission and distribution projects with particular emphasis on promoting and maintaining the technical adequacy, uniformity, and quality of the project designs in conformance with approved standards and codes.
Major Activities Performed:
- Supervises discipline staff that are in subordinate positions.
- Prepares technical specifications and scope of work descriptions for T& D projects.
- Provides technical advice and guidance in all discipline aspects for T&D projects.
- Prepares Request for Proposal (RFP) documents and conceptual design concepts for T&D projects.
- Provides technical support during pre-bid conferences, proposal evaluations, and post-award or other contract conferences.
- Reviews A/E contractor design drawings, specifications, and calculation submittals and coordinates with the works of other disciplines.
- Reviews vendor/shop drawings and construction materials and/or equipment submittals.
- Prepares conceptual designs, interface layouts and conflict solutions.
- Prepares man-hour estimates and material takeoffs.
- Prepares technical correspondence, reports and studies including systems studies for transmission and distribution systems.
- Follows quality control and quality assurance procedures established by management
Requirements
- A Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university plus 15 years post-graduate professional experience with a minimum of 10 years of design experience.
- Registration in Country of Origin in an Engineering Professional Association is highly desirable.
- The ability to communicate proficiently in spoken and written English is required.
- Must have broad advanced experience in designing and specifying electrical systems for transmission and distribution projects.
