Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Director of Engineering is responsible for the short and long term planning of the Engineering function across the Al Noor Hospitals Group.

Candidate must possess a history of strong leadership, deep practical engineering knowledge and a proven track record for timely project delivery, project management, cost control and customer satisfaction. Overall responsibility of managing the provision of Engineering services including implementing effective policies, procedures, processes and systems.
- Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the operations of the engineering, maintenance and bio medical departments.
- Oversee the design, construction, and commission of new healthcare projects.
- The desired individual is someone who will bring knowledge and creativity to the position as well as have the discipline to drive results and follow established fundamental processes.
- Maintains compliance with applicable regulatory agency requirements including Joint Commission and Environment Health and Safety.
- Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives and processes are in conformance with organizations established policies and objectives.
- Demonstrate an on-going commitment to service quality improvement, and ensure a high level commitment to professional job performance and customer service throughout the Al Noor Hospitals Group.

This successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and will interface closely with the other departments i.e. Finance, Marketing and Operations.
- People management including workforce planning, recruitment, retention, occupational health and safety, education and training and performance management.
- Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the operations of the Engineering, Maintenance and Bio-medical departments.
- Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization's established policies and objectives.
- Perform required administrative functions, including preparation of annual departmental and capital project budget, control of expenditures within approved limits, personnel administration and training, maintenance of required records and preparation of regular and special reports as required.
- Must maintain client relationships while also supporting the engineering teams in the training and mentoring of team members.
- Ensure Hospital level Engineering Managers maintain the efficient and safe operation of all hospital and clinic buildings and equipment, and plans, maintains and repairs building and equipment. Develops and manages operating and capital budgets.
- Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates.
- Set goals within measurable outcomes in support of overall company goals.
- Direct and oversee the work of subordinates in the preparation of engineering plans and specifications for projects in accordance with department policies and practices, regulations and codes.
- Management of service contracts, warranty compliance and department SLA’s.
- Translate complicated technical engineering issues and make effective presentations to the COO and Directors.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent. Masters degree preferred.
- Ideal candidate will have at least 8 years engineering experience in a healthcare or related setting, including five years of management experience
- Demonstrated experience of accreditation and EHSMS standards.
- Thorough knowledge of Preventative Maintenance applications and hospital engineering requirements
- Financial Management competence.
- Advanced spoken and written English communication
- Situational Leadership
- Holds valid UAE driver’s license
