Traffic Engineer

Job description / Role

This position shall be responsible for overseeing, monitoring and developing the traffic operation strategies at the Traffic Management Center Control Room. The following are the responsibilities:

- Analyze the historical / online traffic data related to traffic flow condi-tions, accident rates, and propose strategies taking into consideration any future developments within the area of influence to determine the most efficient methods to expedite traffic flow, provide technical su-pervision regarding traffic control devices,
- Establish procedures for street closures or for repair or construction projects,
- Compute time settings for traffic signals or speed restrictions, using standard software such as VISSIM, SIDRA, SYNCHRO, TRANSYT, HCS etc.
- Perform professional engineering work to plan, coordinate and im-plement transportation system in accordance with acceptable engi-neering practices.
- Develops, coordinates and oversees implementation of traffic and safety plans for all areas;
- Plans and manages traffic engineering to ensure planning and devel-opment is in compliance with all applicable codes and regulations, and according to all acceptable engineering practices ;
- Shall possess a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of Traffic System Operation;
- Performs field work, surveys and site inspections; directs and reviews engineering work for traffic systems and operations

Requirements

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years’ relevant experience in traffic system operation/traffic management center.
- Must have at least 5-8 years experience in the same field.
- Arabic language, written and spoken is a must.
