Substation Design Review Engineer

Salary: Experience dependent
Duration: 2 years

As a substation design review engineer you will join a team acting as Owners Engineer responsible for power systems up to 220kV as well as associated transmission system.

Responsibilities:
- Substation conceptual design, preparation of specifications, and technical data sheets for schemes involving AIS, GIS and Hybrid systems from 20kV up to 220 kV.
- Project basic design and other services relating to 220kV + transmission lines, cables and other transmission systems.
- Undertake bid evaluations and negotiations on behalf of the client for projects leading to EPC contract award.
- Responsible for the electrical design review of the EPC contractors design documentation submitted post contract award to check compliance with the contract specification. Including but not limited to primary plant, secondary protection control telecommunications and SCADA, plus all station ancillary systems
- Review and checking of protection relay settings related to these projects.
- Undertake factory inspections for equipment to ensure compliance with relevant design codes and standards as well as approved test procedures.
- Providing advice and input to our supervision team relating to design, erection, commissioning and testing.

Requirements

- Recognized European or Western Electrical Engineering Degree,
- Minimum of ten years experience of design, delivery and supervision of HV substation equipment, HV cables and overhead lines systems.
- Experience in Afghanistan or other post conflict countries a huge advantage.
- Familiarity with common power system software such as PSS/e, ETAP or DigSILENT an advantage but not essential
- Experience in the preparation of technical reports in English.
- Good command of Technical English and ability to work in a multinational project team.
