Duration : 6 months and may be extendable

Project description: Rehabilitation and upgrading of a hydropower plant with 4.8 MW installation capacity, and (ii) Construction and replacement of 30 km of 3.3 kV transmission and distribution network with 20 kV line and installation of new end-user meters.

Responsibilities:
- Review the existing design work on the electro-mechanical equipment completed to date.
- Monitor tests on completion, pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures; provide commissioning assistance; and monitor rectification of detail and outstanding works for issue of taking-over certificate.
- Assist in training of the Afghanistan Electricity Company’s staff through on-the-job training and classroom training programs, covering the installation techniques and associated maintenance and repair procedures, and prepare installation and operation and maintenance manual for the Afghanistan Electricity Company.
- Help ensure that the electro-mechanical works design, load control systems, turbine performance and technology used are appropriate for the specific hydropower application to ensure maximum production efficiency.

Requirements

- A University degree in Electrical Engineering.
- At least 7 years of experience as a Transmission/Distribution Line Engineer in transmission and distribution networks and metering systems.
- Experience in developing countries is desirable.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent English language skills.
