Prospect Health

Bahrain

Ref: QP377-947

Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Prospect Health are handling a recruitment drive in the UK on behalf one of the Gulf region's newest private healthcare groups, located in Manama, Bahrain. The group are open to receiving interest from Consultant Anaesthetists who will carry out Cardiothoracic Theatre work as well as Intensive Care in their brand new, specialist facility in Bahrain, due to open this year. The role will involve theatre work as well as Intensive care work. You will have a great support network of Doctors and Nursing staff, with the latest brand-new equipment at your disposal.

The Facility

This hospital is a specialised cardiac facility that provides care to those in Bahrain and eastern Saudi Arabia. It's a public organisation that falls under the auspices of the Bahraini Military. This means that as a physician you will be treating those in the military or indeed their family members.

The Facility provides a broad spectrum of comprehensive cardiac care ranging from treatment, diagnosis and prevention to research and education. As the best hospital cardiac care facility in Kingdom of Bahrain, the Heart Centre continues to grow by serving both adult and paediatric patients with diagnostic and interventional cardiology services, as well as closed- and open-heart surgery procedures. The Centre offers a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for adults, infants, children, and teenagers with congenital heart disease from the common to the extremely complex.

The staff at both our primary site and various clinic locations consists of qualified, board-certified physicians, nurses, physician assistants, technicians, and support personnel, all highly experienced in, and dedicated to, the care of patients with heart problems. The facilities have been specifically designed by medical staff in order to provide the very best to patients and their families. All diagnostic, treatment, and recovery areas are contiguous, spacious, and modern with the latest equipment necessary to care for the patient. Working hours for Government run facilities tend to consist of an early start with most finishing around 2pm, leaving plenty of downtime to enjoy a good work/life balance.

The Location

Bahrain has long been a hotspot for expats, with a small population and resting between Saudi Arabia and Qatar in the Arabian Gulf. Like Dubai or Abu Dhabi, it has a liberal approach to life but unlike the Emirates it is substantially cheaper to live making saving easier. Unlike other Middle Eastern countries, Bahrain has its own democratically elected parliament as well as local councils. However, it is the King's rule that is absolute, therefore parliament rulings do not always become law.

Bahrain's legal system combines Islamic law with English common law. Alcohol is forbidden for Muslims, but in Bahrain, it is available to others over the age of 18. Expats can buy alcohol at special outlets that are located away from residential and school areas. The government oversees club membership and the process of joining may take a while. But many expats consider it worth it as it places them in the vicinity of like-minded individuals, including locals.

Bahraini residents are friendly and welcoming to all. There are plenty of water sports to be enjoyed as well as dolphin spotting, swimming and spas to relax in. There are many eateries on offer, which provide an array of amazing foods, where you will find many residents eating out the majority of the time.
