Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Principal Accountabilities: Drive incisive and value adding business analysis and portfolio reporting to understand current business performance, identify issues/opportunities in the portfolio to drive higher DBV, Merchant Activity Ratios, Merchant Acquisition

Monthly/Weekly reporting for the regional Merchant Business
- Ensure BI data accuracy and build the set of reports to deliver the monthly business report and the ongoing MIS
- Pricing evaluations and derive recommendation
- Profitability analysis on B2B and other large deals within the business
- Profitability and Breakeven analysis by transactions/ by market/by channel etc…
- Manage the end to end process of Sales Incentive Calculations and payment including target and goals distributions
- Manage Marketing Option Funds calculations for Airlines and other industries
- Review of Regional Accounts performance and hierarchies
- Manage Discount Rate changes implementations, rebates calculations
- Analyze impact of Discount Rate Changes
- Local and Inbound DBV analysis
- Analysis (Billings and Spend evaluations for specific merchants and industries)
- Deliver monthly OR Commentary, support on excom and deep dive decks ensuring MIS is available on a regular basis, providing value-added insight and analysis into the performance of the business (at Industry, Market and Account level), supporting annual and ongoing budgeting/planning/cost management
- Support on Account Management Business Review decks
- Monthly New signings analysis vs. budgets
- Review merchant inactivity/volume and transaction declines
- Identify issues and under-performing segments/merchants, highlight to merchant team and ensure follow-up

Support Budgeting/Forecasting and ongoing management of performance vs. plans:
- Manage annual budget planning & forecasting for the regional Merchant Business
- Support long-term planning activity for the Merchant Business incl. 5 year plans
- Support development of Business cases and financial models to support key negotiations, entry into new business segments, operating costs management and strategic projects
- Develop financial models for pricing negotiations & business cases for strategic projects & initiatives for growth & expansion
- Develop business cases to support key business projects and decisions – this will include full assessment of revenue and cost impacts, overall profitability, sensitivity analysis based on different scenarios and recommended options
- Business cases will include projects such as POS fees reviews, Accounts DR negotiations, Industry re-pricing for expansion of merchant coverage into new industries (i.e. taxi’s/petrol/insurance/car dealerships)
- Develop detailed financial models to support key merchant and business negotiations – models to include profitability, margin and scenario analysis dependent on volume
- Examples of such negotiations include negotiations with Govt Entities, Telecoms, Major Retail and Lodging Groups, etc
- Analyze operating costs - specifically take ownership for POS related expense across the region, including managing all accruals and driving internal projects to lower these costs to rationalization of POS expenses currently paid
- Preparing periodic reviews for senior management to provide timely & accurate information on the underlying portfolio risks and trends.
- Merchant performance reviews with Management Team, Excom and Board
- Updates for Ex-com Meetings
- OR Commentary
- Industry deep dive evaluations

Requirements

- A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in MIS, data analytics, Business planning
- Preferable knowledge of merchant business and/or financial services
- Strong understanding systems and ability to interrogate and extract the right data
- Strong analytical skills with ability to drive meaningful analysis and conclusions from data
- Ability to build reports and analysis that will provide appropriate business visibility to business heads an their teams
- Commercial acumen with ability to understand the drivers behind business analysis to support commercial decision making
- Strong financial skills with ability develop business cases, P&L analysis, NPV analysis and understanding of customer lifecycle value
- Ability to understand the big picture, articulate key strategies and support the development of business cases, annual and long term business plans
- Ability/appreciation to analyse/segment different customer portfolios and drive meaningful analysis of performance
- Ability to work with large pieces of data and drive meaningful analysis
- Strong attention to detail is critical
- Ability to build confidence and relationships at senior levels with ability to articulate results of analysis
- Very strong collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills
- Ability to work independently and lead, own and manage multiple activities and projects
- Ability, appetite and pro-activeness to own and manage day to day tasks and key projects
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong project management skills - ability to put in place appropriate plans, lead and co-ordinate activities, ensure progress against set goals, identify and resolve issues and consolidate and present progress to ensure delivery against set targets and milestones
- Proven business, financial and commercial acumen
- Ability to work across various levels (sale/relationship management/IT/finance and senior leadership) and impact and influence upwards and sideways in multi-matrix environment
