General Manager - Automotive - Belgium

The General Manager ensures the profitability of the Belgium branch by overseeing the various departments which include variable operations (sales & financing), fixed operations (service & parts), and the accounting & administration. Planning, motivating and coordinating the branch’s management through leadership and solid business practices. Developing & implementing business strategy and strengthening the brand portfolio.

Core Responsibilities:
- Develops a business plan and sales strategy for the branch in relation to the relevant market that will ensure the attainment of the branch sales objective.
- Hiring all management positions, completing performance evaluations regularly and developing short and long-term goals for each department manager (includes administrative, sales, parts, and service departments).
- Planning and developing short and long-term goals and objectives annually, and submitting time projections to corporate management for approval.
- Effectively communicating with the Branch Manager on a daily & weekly basis to review departmental forecasts and ensure consistency with annual projections.
- Paying close attention to daily operations, recommending and creating improved courses of action where necessary.
- Explaining the policies and procedures of the branch office to all employees and following up with employees to ensure that these issues are understood and followed.
- Ensures adherence to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
- Overseeing the monthly financial statement to ensure it is complete, accurate and submitted on time to the management/ owners.
- Control expenses to meet budget guidelines.
- Work directly with Belgium Finance Manager to ensure accurate financial compensation, rewards and reporting submitted to Headquarters’ Finance.
- Coordinating regular meetings with the managers of each department to ensure their profitability and efficiency.
- Overseeing the hiring and training of all department managers.
- Maintaining an enthusiastic attitude to build positive employee attitudes and morale.
- Overseeing and maintaining compensation plans for all employees.
- Creating cost-effective advertising programs and merchandising strategies for the branch office.
- Focusing on any customer complaints that department managers are unable to rectify and taking the necessary steps to resolve these complaints.

Requirements

- Knowledge in Belgium’s taxation system and Government’s offices.
- Sets performance goals in the beginning of the year for the direct reports and ensures that the goals are achieved during the course of the year
- Identifies the training and development requirements for self and team
- Insure that all employees meet or exceed all activity standards for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals and closes.
- Sets examples for the branch in areas of personal and professional character, commitment, organizational and selling skills.
- Conducts regular coaching and counselling to build motivation and selling skills.
- Maintain contact with all clients in the market area to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
- Demonstrate the ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees.
- Willingness to travel and work in a global team of professionals.
