TBM Chief Mechanic

Job description / Role

Adept personnel are actively searching for a TBM chief Mechanic to join a major Hydroelectric power plant project based in Chile. The project itself is a JV between two industry specialist that work on a large international platform, in this instance they are working together for the tunnelling on a major hydroelectric power plant in the Chilean mountains to act as a renewable source of energy. In order to reach this point they have already employed a huge number of professionals to get the project completed before 2018.

This position is project based in Chile.

The position is for a TBM Chief Mechanic. With the knowledge and experience of using this equipment you will manage the TBM mechanical systems and associated plant as well as fitters and mechanics on site. It is essential that you are able to demonstrate experience in a similar role using Tunnel Boring Machines to carry out Hyperbaric operation inside the cutter head of TBM, to work as an erector operator inside the TBM, to Work as a Hydraulic Mechanic in TBM.

Other duties would include:
- To carry out TBM maintenance work inside the TBM.
- To write down the shift report for TBM depends upon the day and night shift work.
- To properly check the Cutter Head in a Hyperbaric Condition.
- To perform all the safety related Activities inside the TBM.
- To perform Daily maintenance and breakdown repair.
- To test Hard rock cutter head compressed air interventions.

As a licensed Professional Engineer and a TBM Mechanic, you will have understanding of different tunnel construction methods and the interaction with design, structural design of reinforced concrete and steel sections and/or the geotechnical aspects of tunnelling.

Requirements

- Effective communicator, able to influence all team members from workforce to management.
­ Demonstrated ability to be an effective team member with great flexibility.

The candidate is expected to have a minimum of 10 years’ experience with at leas 5 years in a similar position.

You are required to be fluent in English + Spanish (basic skills in Spanish can also be considered)
