Responsible for planning, directing or coordinating medicine and health services in hospitals and clinics.Has overall responsibility for supervising and coordinating activities of clerical and administrative employees engaged in supporting a patient care unit.

Responsibilities
- Provides leadership, direction and decision making support for departments and employees, all directed toward high quality of care and service.
- Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of programs and services.
- In collaboration with Department Chairs, identifies fiscal requirements of assigned departments, reviews budgetary recommendations and monitors the expenditure of budgeted funds.
- Promotes, facilitates and supports an integrated approach to patient care.
- Oversees various Human Resource functions including, but not limited to, hiring, merit recommendations, promotions and transfers.
- Direct or conduct recruitment, hiring and training of personnel.
- Develop and maintain computerized record management systems to store and process data, such as personnel activities and information, and to produce reports.
- Develop and implement organizational policies and procedures for the facility or medical unit.
- Conduct and administer fiscal operations, including accounting, planning budgets, authorizing expenditures, establishing rates for services and coordinating financial reporting.
- Establish work schedules and assignments for staff, according to workload, space and equipment availability.
- Maintain communication between department heads, chairs, medical staff, and relevant external organizations by attending meetings and coordinating interdepartmental functioning.
- Monitor the use of diagnostic services, inpatient beds, facilities, and staff to ensure effective use of resources and assess the need for additional staff, equipment and services.
- Analyzes department budget to identify budget needs and or reductions, and may allocate operating budget funds. Required to be adept in activities of employees supervised.
- Maintain awareness of advances in medicine, computerized diagnostic and treatment equipment, data processing technology, government regulations, health insurance changes, and financing options.

Requirements

- Education: Minimum: Bachelor's degree in any related field
- Preferred: Preferably in Business Administration
- Experience: Minimum: 2 years in work-related skill, knowledge or experience
- Preferred: 7 years
