Senior Instrumentation Engineer (SCADA)

Job description / Role

In accordance with established procedures, performs a variety of routine and non-routine administrative, clerical, data collection, and report writing tasks specific to the group assigned. Receives direction from immediate supervisor in completing non-routine assignments.

Key Accountabilities:
- Ability to select SCADA, PLC, RTU and other smart controller.
- Preparation of instrumentation and control design documents, assist to prepare P&IDs, conceptual and detailed instrument designs and layouts, equipment designs and packages (process control system and emergency shutdown systems, control panels. instrument tubing, instrument material selections, control schematics, instrumentation wiring diagram, Control Panels Design, instrumentation and control, cable lists, instrument loop diagrams, Field instruments data sheets , Input/output list , Cause and effects matrix , Project specifications etc as a minimum.
- Review the Client deliverables and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Clients policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of fiber optic cable, patch panels, media converters and switches.
- In depth knowledge for Fire alarm systems with International code and standards.
- Participate in design reviews; assist project manager/design manager in resolution of engineering issues in order to improve the reliability of the instrumentation and control systems.
- Verification of shop drawings, as built drawings, and review vendor proposals.
- Participates in Factory Acceptance Test and Site Acceptance test.
- Liaise closely with various discipline engineers and advise them of problem areas.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet the targeted schedule.
- Review and approval of the design drawings and documents.
- Liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors/Consultants and relevant authorities.
- Project management within cost and time constrained environments.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Understanding and ensuring compliance with the health and safety regulations and quality standards of the country in which work is undertaken.

Requirements

- 4-year degree in electrical/instrumentation and controls engineering or equivalent degree.
- 8 - 12 years broad experience in instrumentation engineering and design on large industrial or infrastructure projects.
- Preference for GCC experience.
- Up to-date knowledge of industry best practices, international code s/ standards in MEP/ BMS/ automation, controls. Good written and oral communication.
- Proven ability to perform key technical role.
- Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations. Knowledge of current technology and its effective use on the project.
- Any industrial practice membership or certification is preferred.
- Experience in network design requirements.
- Ability to manage Instrumentation and control design requirements independently or with minimum support.
