Technical Manager

Job description / Role

The Technical Manger will support the Project Manager for all Technical and office activities related to the project in order to ensure that the work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design.

This will include planning support, procurement requests, detailing, method statements, materials submittals, drawings submittals, quality, and safety.
- To be fully aware of the project specifications, drawings and contractual terms.
- Ensure that all drawings, documentation and records in use are reviewed, approved and controlled for adequacy.
- Preparation of shop drawings and as-built drawings.
- Prepare Method Statements; material submittals, request for information (RFIs), change orders and coordinates the design to minimize construction cost while satisfying the client and contract requirements.
- Owns the development lifecycle and is responsible for managing technical risks throughout the project.
- Staff management
- Coordinate with consultant, subcontractors and documenting any project issues/conditions.
- Plan and schedule the project activities in liaison with planning engineer.
- Review and monitor the progress of the project.
- Prepare and follow-up the documentation for claims and variation orders.
- Define and implement corrective actions where deficiencies are detected.
- Ensure safe work environments
- Coordinate with civil engineers and MEP engineers giving them support and work as a team.
- Coordinate with surveyors to check line and levels in conformance with drawings and specifications.
- Maintaining records of completed works for interim and financial payment and as built drawings.

Requirements

- Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering/Architect is a must.
- Above 8 years’ experience in similar role in a construction Company in which minimum 3 years should by in Gulf/Qatar (preferably in Qatar).
- 4 Years of experience should be performing as a Technical Manager role.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Primavera and Computer software’s (Microsoft Word & Excel).
- Excellent communication skill in both written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage.
- Capacity of leading a team of technicians and draftsman
- Be able to work under pressure with strong deadlines.
- Must be a team player and willing to work as a team.
- Orientation to objectives
- Knowledge of both technical and practical aspects of project management.
- Must have integrity, initiative and be flexible and proactive.
- Familiar with Gulf area projects
