Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The interior designer is responsible for interior design work including engineering and architectural design coordination. The role will be to take concept design through to construction drawings tender documentation and ward of contract, as well as technical evaluation of contractors submittals during the construction process.

The interior designer must be computer literate in AutoCAD and capable of producing quality hand-drawn sketches and/or computer drawn 3D sketches to illustrate design ideas.

Communication and liaison skills are essential qualities applicable throughout the project. Municipal/government experience, client management, client business development will be highly regarded.

The interior designer will be an experienced team worker with proven track record of coordinating a multi-disciplinary design team with minimal supervision. From time to time the interior designer will also be required to document his/her own projects.

STRATEGIC DIRECTION
To undertake a programme of continual self improvement developing in 2D CAD (AutoCAD) and 3D CAD revit applications.

KEY OBJECTIVES
- Establish client brief and project deliverables
- Create design within budget parameters
- Lead or support design team to produce quality construction and tender documentation
- Co-ordinate sub-consultancy disciplines with development of interior design documentation
- Manage production of design documentation in accordance with approved budgets and timelines
- Improve efficiency in production of quality design documentation
- Assist senior with concept design development

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparation of drawings and schedules for execution of project
- Sound time management of the entire management of the entire production process
- Manage senior designers expectations and meet program objectives
- Preparation of relevant design solutions for execution of project
- Co-ordination and management of appointed sub-consultants.
- Research and awareness of international design trends

KEY RELATIONSHIPS
- Head of production - day to day reporting and review of issues related to design and execution of work
- Senior architects - support on technical and design issues

RESOURCES CONTROLLED/AUTHORITY HELD
- Responsible for work executed by junior designers and CAD staff within design team
- Responsible for co-ordination and work executed by appointed sub-consultants.

Requirements

- Relevant recognized design qualification. Architectural may be considered.
- 5-10 years professional experience post qualification.
- Sound knowledge of the construction delivery process
- Have a flair for creating conceptual designs
- Capable of producing quality 3D renderings to illustrate design ideas
- Be aware of current trends in interior design, and be enthusiastic and passionate about design.
- Experienced in dealing with relevant authorities to obtain approvals
- Be energetic, pro-active and a natural creative individual
- Ideally worked with reputed international consultant practices
- Preferably a member of relevant professional industry association
- Well organized creative individual with ability to think outside the box
