Employment: Full Time

The Planning Manager is the focal point for all planning issues throughout the construction contract and includes review of Contractor’s planning submittals and progress reports, time claims, variations, and includes leading discussions on risk management and mitigation, and other planning issues.

The Planning Manager tracks the progress of the Works against the approved programme and communicates variances with the contractor and client as well as advising on “what if” scenarios. The Planning Manager is responsible for assessing critical time claims and disruption claims using time impact analysis, and other appropriate methods to establish impact to provide an independent analysis.

The Planning Manager manages a team of planners and implements ‘up to date’ best practices having a broad knowledge and experience of construction activities in large Infrastructure Projects and Programs.

Specific Responsibilities:
• Sets up and manages the Planning Section and develops internal procedures for meeting the Planning Section’s responsibilities.
• Coordinates activities with the Contracts Manager for cost/time issues and assists in preparing change order documentation for time impacts.
• Reviews Contractor’s planning and progress report submittals, prepares letters to the Contractor and addresses accuracy and quality of the submissions.
• Reviews multiple Contractors’ schedules on the Programme to identify planning coordination issues and any adverse impact on Baseline Schedules, providing advice on efficient work activity sequencing and resequencing.
• Attends the Weekly Progress Meetings and leads the discussion on planning issues.
• Takes a pro-active approach in resolving issues that may delay the construction schedule, and alerts senior management of potential delays with possible solutions.
• Prepares and maintains the Contract Risk Register.
• Prepares an Issues Register and tracks disposition of issues.
• Provide necessary planning support services to the senior management and client.
• Monitors Contractor’s progress on site and evaluates Contractor’s schedule performance.
• Prepares Weekly Dashboards and Monthly Progress Report, and leads the internal coordination to enable timely completion in order to meet contract requirements.
• Maintains an overall knowledge of drawings, specifications, contract conditions and time schedules which impact construction activities.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be assigned.
• Ensures all planning reviews comply with internal QA/QC procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Engineering and 20 years of related work experience.
• Expert knowledge of Primavera P6.
• Direct experience in large infrastructure projects.
• GCC experience.

Skills/Competencies:
• Proven ability to perform in a lead capacity.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Self-starter with strong attention to detail.
