Job description / Role
Taylor Sterling is looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer Temporary Works to join a western main contractor in Dubai, UAE.
The Senior Design Engineer (SDE) is responsible for production of drawings, calculations and specifications for diverse range of permanent and temporary works schemes, as well as the provision of build-ability, construction methodology and value engineering advice for live projects and tenders, as required by the business. The SDE will manage up to 2 junior engineers, and is responsible for providing on-the-job training, guidance and mentoring to enable them to fulfil their duties.
The SDE will have a strong technical background. Design capability with all mainstream structural materials (i.e. steelwork, reinforced concrete, timber, etc.) using Eurocodes is required. Geotechnical design capability is also beneficial. Familiarity with a range of proprietary falsework, formwork and shoring equipment is also an essential requirement of the role.
Requirements
- Structural Engineering Degree
- Experience of coordinating and delivering temporary works designs for building and infrastructure projects
- Ideally experience in computer software for the analysis of structures
- Ideally experience in the use of computer drawing software, e.g. AutoCAD or Microstation
- Willing to help develop the temporary works capabilities of the office
