Software Engineering Development Manager Banking

Job description / Role

An opportunity has arisen within the Software Engineering and Development Centre of Excellent at a major banking organization here in the UAE. Operating within primarily a man-management role as Software Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be managing a team of technical leads tasked with the development and testing of software for the bank.

The Software Engineering group encompasses software design, development and testing in an effort to improve efficiency within these areas for Group IT, and the Managers within this team are responsible for:
- Increased quality of applications
- Aggregation of application development skill-set and knowledge
- Standardized use of tools and software for application development
- Reduced cost of development due to elimination of overlapping effort
- Improved effectiveness of application support
- Increased efficiency in software development leading to less development time and thus increased productivity and improved user satisfaction

The role will also involve:
- Day to day management of the team
- Providing effort estimates for software development projects/changes
- Reviewing and scoring functional specs
- Review unit testing by the team
- Manage their domain’s approved IT budget

Requirements

Candidates are expected to have in depth knowledge of all applications under development, and should have a strong technical background within one of the following domains:
- Application/Web Development: .Net, Sharepoint, Visual Studio development
- Database development: Oracle, E-Business
- Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence: Informatica, Cognos, Qlikview, Microsoft BI Stack

Any prior financial services or banking experience is preferred, and the ability to speak Arabic is beneficial.
