TBM Operators

Job description / Role

Linum Consult’s client is a major global contractor, currently seeking 2 experienced TBM Pilot/Operators – one specialised in Slurry TBMs for Egypt and one specialised in EPB TBMs to join their team in Qatar.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operating the TBM as per the MS and the daily instructions given by the Shift Boss/Engineer
- Reporting only to the Shift Boss/Engineer

Requirements

Must demonstrate a total understanding of the excavation process, in particular:
- Water pressure/ compressed air pressure
- Compressed air regulation principles
- Earth pressure repartition
- Confinement concepts
- Basic mechanical concepts of TBM (thrust, torque, etc.)
- Tail void grouting principles/concepts

Should perfectly understand the guidance system principles:
- Position of shield vs theoretical alignment
- Shield attitude (roll, pitch, etc.)
- Thrust actions onto rings to steer the shield
- Universal ring concept
- Ring building inside tall skin (clearance issues)

Profile:
- At least 5 years’ tunnelling experience using EPB or Slurry/compressed air TBMs
- Must be rigorous/stringent in order to bring high level of performance in your duty
- Strong history of working for main contractors
- Fluency in both written and spoken English, and familiar with working with people coming from various countries
