TBM Shift Boss

Job description / Role

Linum Consult’s client is a major global contractor, currently seeking 2 experienced TBM Shift Bosses – one specialised in Slurry TBMs for Egypt and one specialised in EPB TBMs to join their team in Qatar.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organising and managing a complete TBM shift (about 20 people): Surface Foreman, Bottom Foreman, TBM Pilot, and all other labourers (rolling stock operator, grouting, logistics, etc.)
- Meeting and exceeding all safety and quality requirements on site
- Collaborating closely with the plant staff working in your, but also reporting to plant hierarchy in order to keep TBM, rolling stock and all related equipment in perfect working condition
- Collaborating closely with inspectors (from supervision consultant and QCE) to allow all required quality control to be done in accordance with the contract
- Producing a daily report summarising the work achieved, as well as all incidents or problems that may have occurred during your shift
- Transmitting verbal instructions/information to the other Shift Boss/Engineer taking over at the end of your shift in the TBM

Requirements

- At least 10-15 years’ tunnelling experience using TBMs, with 5 years’ experience as a TBM Shift Boss
- Must have a full understanding of an EPB or Slurry/ compressed air TBM process (ideally previously worked as a TBM pilot), in order to strictly follow the instructions coming from the TBM site supervisor
- Strong history of working for main contractors
- Fluency in both written and spoken English, and familiar with working with people coming from various countries
