TBM Supervisor

Job description / Role

Linum Consult’s client is a major global contractor, currently seeking 2 experienced TBM Supervisors – one specialised in Slurry TBMs for Egypt and one specialised in EPB TBMs to join their team in Qatar.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Overseeing 50-80 people on a TBM drive, under the authority of the Project Manager
- Implementing the instructions issued by the top management related to safety, organisation, technique/process, productivity, and quality
- Preparing the site installation according to drawings issued by the methods department
- Preparing the relevant methods statements and controlling their effective implementation
- Directly managing the production shifts on a daily basis, with responsibility for daily deliveries, and managing the subcontractor in charge of spoil disposal
- Coordinating with the TBM supplier and the plant department for the TBM erection
- Assessing if the TBM excavation parameters are in line with expectations, being capable to understand the reasons of possible deviations, taking decisions on the spot if ground conditions change in order to decide possible process changes/adaptation
- Presenting monthly cost control results/variances according to the budget approved by the JV board
- Coordinating closely with the Plant department in charge of the TBM maintenance and supporting their actions/forecasts to be sure that the TBM and associated plant is always in good working condition

Requirements

- At least 10-15 years’ tunneling experience using TBMs, with 5 years’ experience in TBM site management
- Knowledge/experience of TBM operation in compressed air is essential
- Strong history of working for main contractors
- Fluency in both written and spoken English, and familiar with working with people coming from various countries
