About the Business Description and Desired Qualifications Project / business overview In the Middle East, CH2M HILL Company provides consultancy services across a geographic region extending from North Africa to Dubai. This culturally, economically and environmentally diverse region has seen remarkable development over the last 30 years and Halcrow has played a leading role in its development since 1955. Our current active project portfolio includes the construction of a new runway with associated infrastructure at Sharjah International Airport, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. This project comprises of all civil works and a complete integrated advanced surface movement guidance and control system as well as power and communications networks for a new Code F runway with CATIIIB capability on both approaches. We have a vacancy for an Assistant Resident Engineer Airfield Systems who will be responsible for checking designs of airfield lighting, navigational aids and other electrical and electronic systems submitted by the project's contractors as well as supervising the construction, installation and commissioning of the these systems as part of this major project. Key role objective The principal function of this position is to provide the airfield systems input into this multi-disciplinary construction supervision project. The position reports to the resident engineer on the site and will receive technical back-up and support from the chief airfield systems engineer based in Dubai. Key areas of responsibility The priorities of this role include: Responsibility for delivering timely reviews and technical advice on designs and products proposed by contractors. Technical expertise in the design, installation and commissioning of electrical and electronic airfield infrastructure. Technical oversight of other site staff. Good communication skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary construction supervision team. Staff mentoring and development. |
RequirementsRequirementsBasic Qualifications Key requirements The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge. These points should align with the key areas of responsibility: Good leadership, communication skills and flexibility in working within a multidisciplinary construction supervision team. Knowledge, understanding and ability in application of technical principles of airfield electrical and electronic systems. Good commercial awareness and project control skills. At least 5 years relevant experience. Minimum qualifications A recognised degree in electrical engineering or electronics, or other recognised and relevant field.
