Hudson is pleased to be representing one of the world’s largest oil and gas companies in their search for an Accountant within the Payables Team. Based in the Middle East, this is great opportunity to lead a team of seven individuals taking responsibility of all payables activities relating to the payments to and recoveries from materials suppliers. Some key accountabilities include:
• Approve invoices from suppliers by posting the documents in SAP, after ensuring compliance with financial conditions of purchase orders, policies and procedures and with an objective of protecting the organisation’s financial interest.
• Approve down payments to suppliers after ensuring the company’s financial interest in the form of Advance Payment Guarantees and tender committee approvals.
• Approve recoveries from suppliers towards advance payments and liquidated damages to ensure that suppliers meets its contractual obligations.
• Decide and specify applicability of relevant payment related clauses in purchase orders, policies and procedures, wherever the clauses are generic and not specific to a given situation.
• Ensure payments to suppliers are made to specified bank accounts and in required currency by supervising payment proposal checks and by posting the proposal to ensure that payments are made to designated bank accounts of the suppliers as stipulated in contracts/purchase order documents.
Requirements
With authority over high value transactions, in a multi-currency environment, it is imperative that the successful candidate possesses high levels of honesty and integrity. A detailed approach coupled with sound knowledge of accounting and financial acumen is essential to be able to perform accurately in this environment.
Successful candidates must possess considerable experience within a similar role and hold one of the following: Masters in Finance / Commerce / Business / Accounting and / or CPA / CA / CIMA etc. Individuals must be willing to live in the Middle East and on offer is a full expatriate package including a tax-free basic salary plus housing, transport allowance, school fees paid and annual flights home.
