The Role


The Role


JOB PURPOSE
Will support the Chief Accountant in the performance of accounting and back-office functions. Assists in the analysis of financial statements, financial planning, budgeting and cost control assignments and performs other related work as required. Will assist in handling settlement of transactions with counter-parties which may include investors or correspondent banks.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

1. Data Analysis
Assists in analyzing financial data and extracting and defining relevant information and interpreting data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project a financial probability.

2. Accounting Activities
Performs basic accounting functions including payroll, billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, grants accounting, reimbursement requests, and revenue accounting. May perform reconciliation of all accounting transactions including bank transactions; prepare cash receipts vouchers and other journal entries, and make adjusting and closing entries; posting of general ledger accounts; help in maintaining expenditure and budgetary control accounts and records; assist in collecting and reporting statistical and accounting data on direct, indirect, and general costs, revenues, and reimbursements.

3. Back Office Transaction
Assists in preparing client requirements received from other Departments; check the client accounts on each transaction; send confirmations; and provide statements to customers. Prepares net position and summary of settlement obligations.

4. Financial Statements & Reports
Assists in preparing and analyzing financial statements of the Company, schedules and reports. Prepare basic reports regarding status of various accounts; prepare trial balance, financial reports and statements; prepare working papers, reconciliations, schedules, exhibits, and summaries; prepare a variety of simple reports. Assist in preparing schedules and requirements of external auditors.

5.Payroll
Assists the Chief Accountant in preparing payroll.

6. Budget
Assists in the preparation of annual budget of the Company.

7.Knowledge Development
Should be informed on the latest development in Finance and Accounting regulations. Review specialised publications and other similar sources in order to have a good feel of the development in this area.

8. Liaison
Effectively interact with all internal departments, Customer Service Team and external parties as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

B.Sc. in Accounting or a professional accounting qualification like ACCA, CPA

EXPERIENCE

Minimum three (3) years experience in general accounting function and/or back office function in the same industry
