Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Role synopsis:

This role will report to the Deputy Controller and have accountability to help deliver accounting services. This role works alongside and with other accountants; this role has no direct reports or subordinates. The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with line managers from other departments such as Procurement, Human Resources, Exploration and Drilling.

Key accountabilities:

Accountabilities will vary from time to time depending on priorities but the successful candidate will be expected to work in the following areas:

* Invoices and personnel expense claim forms: register, verify, input (into financial and treasury systems) and pay

* Withholding taxes: calculate, report and pay to government

* Financial System: input new vendors, accounts, cost codes etc.

* Fixed assets: Maintain records and prepare related transactions such as depreciation

* Inventory: maintain records and prepare related transactions such as material receipts, issues and returns and freight allocations

* Account reconciliations: prepare, analyze and take action to eliminate reconciling items

* Files: maintain files of hard copies of all accounting transactions

* Accruals: prepare quarterly accrual journals for the value of work done but not yet paid

* Timesheets: help summarize and record timesheets for cost allocation purposes

* Budgets and cost forecasts: help prepare

* Financial Reports: help prepare budget versus actual cost reports

Requirements

Essential Education:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting

Essential experience and job requirements:

* Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role

* Knowledge of IFRS

* Knowledge of Jordanian laws and regulations over withholding, sales and corporate and personnel taxes and ability to apply that knowledge to correctly calculate, record and report transactions

* Textbook understanding of internal controls required for procurement and payment of goods and services

* Good computing skills, particularly Microsoft Excel

* Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
