Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Responsible for the daily operations of the Laboratory department and staff to ensure accurate and consistent testing procedures.
- Takes measures to keep the laboratory running efficiently by developing and implementing quality control programs, in coordination with Quality Management Department.
- Adheres to all organizational policies and procedures, including those pertaining to confidentiality and helps implement them; introduces or reviews and approves all new procedures added to section in association with the Laboratory and Medical Directors;
- Supervises the performance of testing in the section or on shift; maintains quality of work in section or on shift; maintains inventory control;
- Oversees the performance and reporting of proficiency testing that is performed by technical staff; follows and helps implement standard operating procedures to perform laboratory testing as required.
- Demonstrates competent knowledge and upholds Infection Control and Safety standards;
- Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with clients, and healthcare team in person and via the telephone; responds to overhead pages; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Requirements

- Related to speciality - extensive knowledge of Anatomic Pathology laboratory practices, procedures, and terminology, safe practices for working with hazardous biological or chemical materials; Infection control procedures
- Highly skilled in Anatomic Pathology process from grossing through to embedding, sectioning, microtomy and staining
- High ability to perform specialized staining techniques such as Histochemistry, Immunohistochemistry, Immunflourescence and In-situ hybridization.
- Understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
- Maintain instrumentation according to manufacturers guidelines;
- Exercise independent judgment with minimal supervision;
- Experience and able to:
- Supervise and Manage Technologists and Technicians
- Establish SOPs and Safety standards
- CAP / JCI accreditation experience.
- Work autonomously.

Minimal Qualifications and Experience
- BSc in Medical Technology / Laboratory Technology or Biomedical Science. Masters in Biomedical Science or a relevant clinical masters degree in a related field is preferred
- DHA practice license for Dubai, HAAD license for Abu Dhabi
- Minimum of eight (8) years as Medical Technologist in Supervisory position
- Fluency in English, a second language an advantage

Advantage:
Experience in an accredited laboratory, working under the supervision of a pathologist certified by the American Board of Pathology.

The candidate must have strong leadership, ability to work collaboratively, ability to manage multiple projects and training skills.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Experience with Microsoft Office and database management is required.
- (ASCP) HT/HTL certified Histotechnician or Histotechnologist
