Applications Development Programmer

Job description / Role

Under general supervision, participates in design, development, test planning, implementation, and maintenance of a variety of application systems. The incumbent at this level is competent in using standard systems analysis techniques and applications. May be assigned to a small project where the role is to recommend the most efficient and economical means to meet the users goals and objectives. Experience in implementing & supporting third party application products.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in identifying and evaluating end user requirements; provides data for and assists in developing standard appropriate and cost-effective application solutions.
- Develops general specifications for application development solutions by analyzing new and existing system functions as well as documenting the information obtained from the end user.
- Develops functional specifications to define detailed system input and output, file content,systems functions, systems controls and performance criteria.
- Prepares detailed technical specifications and test plans.
- Participates in user training.
- Provides advice to end users, assists in resolving standard operational issues and supports senior staff in resolving complex issues.
- Conducts required research and fact finding, prepares detailed technical specifications from which programs will be written and develops flowcharts and logic diagrams.
- Designs, codes, tests and documents moderately complex maintenance programs, subroutines and database inquiries in appropriate languages. May assist with complex inquiries.
- Develops procedures for testing programs and defining how programs interact in multiprogram systems.
- Interfaces with external vendor to implement, setup, manage, manage, document & train in third party applications developed by external vendors. Documents information about the product to facilitate demonstration of the third party application to internal clients/ projects in conjunction with other support Business units.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

- 4-year degree in Computer Science (or related curriculum) and 2-5 years of related programming experience (or an equivalent combination of work experience and education)
- A working knowledge of current software applications and technology
- Knowledge of the following is required
- Microsoft ASP.NET MVC 5.0 and ASP.NET Web forms (C#)
- Microsoft ASP.NET Web APIs 2.0 and Restful web services
- Microsoft Entity Framework 5.0 and later
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012
- Microsoft SQL SSRS and SSIS
- OOP, OOA, OOD and DDD concepts
- JavaScript, JQuery, HTML5 and CSS3
- Microsoft SharePoint 2010 development and customizations via SharePoint Designer
- Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2012 for source code control
- Very good problem solving and analytical skills
- Written and oral communication skills appropriate for the position, including the ability to speak very well in basic professional situations and present technical data in a logical manner that is easy to understand (may include communication via telephone, in person, or presenting to small groups)
- Ability to write moderately complex documents (may include emails, memos, procedures, presentations)
- Communicates with a wide variety of individuals (employees and managers) throughout the organization and outside of the organization (i.e. clients, vendors)
