Job description / Role

The Applications Engineer will direct/coordinate the installation and connectivity of Applications, Middleware, Database systems and connectivity for services to ensure the stable operation of the organisation's IT assets. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing applications, middleware and database hardware and software services.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement strategies for migration, consolidation and upgrade of middleware components
* Ability to integrate in Solution and create services in HA mode and load balance the given services.
* Implement and manage the Application, Middleware and Database services for the business to ensure maximum availability and performance at all times.
* Practice asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation.
* Manage and ensure effectiveness of security solutions as they apply to the applications, middleware and database portfolio of systems.
* Develop and execute test plans to check systems technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.
* Develop, document, communicate, and enforce a policy for standardizing services as necessary.
* Develop Application Integration architecture, including Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Messaging Systems.
* Hands-on development expertise in Java, Java EE, JMS, JSP, JDBC.
* Develop, manage building and implementing Enterprise Solutions involving Application servers - Tomcat, WebLogic in cluster environments, Messaging Systems, Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server Database, Linux, Solaris OS
Requirements
* University degree in the field of computer science/engineering or information systems (Master's degree preferred).
* At least 5-10 years work experience managing and configuring enterprise application and middleware platforms.
* Must have experience or in-depth knowledge of J2EE framework and applications
* Strong experience in Web Services standards and technologies (e.g. XML, SOAP, WSDL, XSD, UDDI, REST, etc.).
* Expertise in Oracle Fusion Middleware ( SOA Suite ) is a plus.
* Knowledge of designing and implementing Hadoop and Big Data systems using HIVE, PIG, HDFS, IMPALA, HBASE, FLUME, SQOOP is a plus
* Knowledge of installing application servers, configuring servers and performance tuning
* Installing and configuring databases, Performance tuning and Clustering
* Knowledge of virtualization, Installing and configuring OS, Linux kernel compilation knowledge is added advantage
* Have rich experience and Certification in Middleware Technologies like JBoss, JBoss EAP Weblogic, Fiorano MQ, Tomcat, Apache, Oracle AS & similar, Php, .Net, Java Code etc...
* Experience in Message Broker, Message Queing, Application Server, Enterprise Content Manager and Tomcat
