My client is currently looking to recruit an Arabic Legal Researcher to support the Lawyers within the Knowledge management team.

Take instructions and queries from fee earners (partners, associates, trainees, paralegals and, on occasions if required, support or Admin staff)
Analyse, interpret and define enquiries and requirements
Estimate likely time costs for the research
Present research findings in good English, using a clear structure based on a template
Identify solutions to legal queries based on research findings and legal knowledge of the region
Gather information from appropriate legal resources including: Official Gazettes, legislation databases, judgment databases, governmental websites, newspapers and journals, library resources and other media sources
Verify information as required with government, free zone officials and other sources
Assist with finding appropriate legal resources for others in the business
As guided by practice areas, ensure a current awareness of new legislation, updates, amendments, key judgments and relevant news by scanning press, Official federal and local gazettes and other media sources and international law reviews
Obtain policy statements from relevant ministerial departments and free zone offices to confirm the application and enforceability of new legislation and policy
Provide accurate summaries of new laws to enable fee-earners to be able to update clients on developments.
Support Knowledge Management systems
Identify gaps in Arabic legislation library
Provide copies of any new laws or translations to library support services
Educate fee earners in how to approach local laws and local law research
Build up contacts and government relations

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a native Arabic speaker and have an excellent level of spoken and written English. You must also be educated to degree level (or higher) in law within an Arab University covering the Arab legal systems and/or Shari'ah and have knowledge of the common law legal system.
You must also be able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure maintaining quality and strong attention to detail at all times.
