Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Responsible for design development, design coordination and technical detailing on a number of transportation projects in the Middle East including the Riyadh Metro. The candidate should be a confident and capable manager and designer with excellent technical capabilities, AutoCAD and REVIT skills. The Candidate would ideally have over 10 years experience, and will have worked on major projects (capital cost over $250m).

Responsibilities:
- Technical management of a team
- Detailed design work, managing the documentation and design of detail packages
- Involvement with Value Engineering
- Supervise the preparation of tender documents for contracts;
- Site Inspections and Construction Support
- Resolving problems and issues that arise during construction;
- Keeping within financial budgets and deadlines;
- Coordinating with contractors and other professionals;
- Controlling a package from start to finish;
- Taking ownership of individual schemes and taking them through from concept to completion, as well as demonstrating a strong team work skills
- Be responsible for the design, development and delivery of projects, taking responsibility for design decisions, technical detailing and meeting project deadlines.
- Representing Atkins at Design Team Meetings and Site Meetings.
- Preparing technical design packages and specifications.
- Delegating work to other team members, programming deliverables and monitoring progress as required.
- Working as part of a team in the preparation of production information and working drawing packages.
- Compilation of reports and documents and supporting the rest of the team in draughting documents and technical drawings.
- Compliance with Atkins QA / QC procedures and implementation of these procedures.
- Communicating schemes in a mixed portfolio of media from 2D CAD to the latest use of Revit. Knowledge of working within the BIM environment is preferable for this role.
- Liaison with other consultants and disciplines to ensure coordinated and well resolved integration of structural and building services solutions that complement the Architectural Intent.
- Liaison with the Architectural Team Leader to ensure projects are developed in line with the Practices and Atkins recommendations on Innovation, Added Value and Good, Consistent Design.
- Have an understanding of tested, new and innovative materials and technologies, making informed decisions on their use and specification.
- Be competent in the running of a project from conception to completion, where necessary identifying project and / or commercial risks and opportunities to the Project Manager or Lead Architect.
- Ensure that projects under their control are sufficiently resourced, flagging up any problems and issues to the Architectural Team Leader.
- Be responsible for self learning through CPD seminars or other.

Requirements

- Degree in Architectural Technology
- At least 10 years experience - Preferably registered in UK, USA or Australia.
- At least 4 years REVIT experience
- Major projects experience
- Good all round experience from front end to delivery
- Excellent understanding of building Codes
- Experience on similar scale projects at a senior level
- Experience managing teams of between 5-10 people
- Experience of producing technical design works packages.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Member of the CIAT
- Rail Experience
- Good understanding of Middle East Building Codes
- New build station experience

- Design and Build Experience.
