Assistant Construction Manager - Pneumatic Waste Collection (PWC)

Position Overview:
- Supports the Construction Manager with on-site field construction management activities associated with the completion of assigned construction package(s).
- Supports the performance monitoring of the construction supervision team to confirm compliance with contractual requirements as assigned by the Construction Manager.
- Applies a comprehensive knowledge of various disciplines to be used during construction, as well as the methods and techniques to be utilized for installation; contractual obligations and technical aspects of all items to be constructed.
- Supports the Construction Manager in the management of construction projects to monitor on-schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations; and monitors risks/problems and helps develop options to resolve and review/approval of the daily and weekly reports.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with the various consultants and contractors to direct overall planning of construction activities to identify critical milestones and priorities under the direction of the Construction Manager.
- Monitors the major field construction activities for assigned construction packages for compliance with schedule and works with contractors to develop mitigation measures to control schedule when slippage is determined.
- Works with the Construction Supervision Team to monitor the timely responses to RFIs, processing of change orders, and method statement approvals.
- Maintains awareness of possible problem areas and works to implement preventative actions to manage meeting critical milestones for each phase of the project.
- Supports monitoring and compliance of the Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other approved documents by the construction contractor.
- Prepares periodic reports summarizing progress of construction activities for Construction Manager.
- Supports the Construction Manager in maintaining strong client and community relations.
- Responsible for following up on instructions and commitments associated with the construction project.
- Coordinates RFI responses, monitors change orders, and in conjunction with the Construction Manager makes recommendations for construction progress payments.
- Performs other services in support of the Construction Manager.

Requirements

- Degree in Engineering.
- 12 years of related work experience providing construction and project management services; Alternately, 20 years construction related experience with continued career development and certification.
- Experience in MEP, utilities, GSS. Also, experience in Pneumatic Waste Collection system and its auxiliary services(electrical, control and communication), and Qatar Industrial Plants projects are preferable.
- Knowledge in Qatar Local Authorities.
