Reports to: Hospital CEO or other executive role depending on organization structure

Job Summary
- The role will provide facility specific delivery of non-clinical services including security, housekeeping, gardening, transport, catering, copy center, laundry and mail services through management of agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA) with the corporate Hospitality department. This will include the regular monitoring and reviewing of the SLA.
- To be the principle point of contact between the facility executive and corporate departments, specifically hospitality, engineering, planning and design, ensuring that the needs of the patients, staff and visitors are fully reflected in all aspects of development.
- To ensure that the fabric and structure of the facility remain fully fit for purpose, and that external utilities meet the facilities requirements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to the role within the facility.
- Within the mission, vision and values of HMC, participates in the strategic planning and operational management of the assigned hospital.
- Act as front of house champion for an ideal patient experience.

Common Responsibilities
- Develop strategic understanding of facility requirements and help shape the future by demonstrating adding value to the site
- Build and maintain an effective partnership with external/corporate providers to ensure the delivery of services for the facility is in accordance with SLA requirements, changing organizational needs, value for money, service improvement and compliance with statutory legislation and wider law and best practice.
- Through compliance with the governance processes and company values, manage and develop a professional, proactive and commercially focused approach to FM for the facility.
- To support the Chief Executive and Board in planning and managing the hospital works, projects, buildings and infrastructure, and the delivery of related non-clinical support services.
- To oversee those services that provide patient and guest hospitality.
- Oversee health and safety throughout the area of responsibility of the facility on behalf of the executive team, and in liaison with corporate OHS.
- To maintain close liaison on a day to day basis with clinical executives and departmental leads, assisting them as required in the delivery of optimal clinical care, and to be a major contributor to the clinical governance and assurance processes of the hospital, within a culture of delivering the highest possible quality of care.
- To contribute to the corporate governance of the hospital as a full member of the executive team, looking after the needs of our workforce, aware of our commitment to meeting our budgetary obligations, working towards the objectives described in our business plan, and ensuring effective communication both internally and externally.
- To oversee on-site delivery of those support services delivered by corporate departments by Service Level Agreement (SLA) and monitoring the SLA on behalf of the executive. These services include amongst others: catering, stores, materials management, security & housekeeping.
- To Chair relevant Committees to ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation demands placed upon the hospital within the post holders area of responsibility.
- Keep abreast of all relevant estates and facilities management development and initiatives through continuous personal professional development.
- Write, prepare and present reports where appropriate
- To liaise with internal customers in the design, preparation and implementation of selected project work, i.e. planning, estimating, commissioning and budget control
- Provide space planning management to internal customers, and provide solutions for additional/reduced accommodation requirements.
- To undertake additional tasks as required in the interests of the facility.

Requirements

- Essential education: Bachelors degree in facilities management, healthcare, business, hospitality, project management, contract management or a related field.
Or

For employees who are recruited to this post before Jan 2014, the essential qualifications:
- 3 years diploma or equivalent in facilities management, healthcare, business, hospitality, project management, contract management or a related field.
- Preferred: Bachelors degree in Facilities Management, Healthcare, Business, Hospitality, Project Management, Contract Management or a related field.
- Certification in Health and Safety desirable.
- 7 years experience in facilities management, hospitality, healthcare or project management, including 3 years in a managerial capacity
- Preferred experience: 10 years experience as above.

- Knowledge of databases, spread sheets and web-based systems
- A broad understanding of medical business and operational demands is preferred
- Strong time management and ability to manage projects to a timescales
