Assistant Manager – Environmental Services – Abu Dhabi

Our client, one of the largest developers in the Middle East and North Africa region based in Abu Dhabi is currently seeking for Assistant Manager – Environmental Services who will be “On-the-floor” role, accountable for all maintenance of hygienically acceptable standards for a 230,000 m2 facility including the internal and external cleaning, waste management and recycling emanating from over 100,000 visitors and 400 tenants daily. Reporting to the Manager – Operations and you will be responsible to;

In concert with the Director of Operations, define the strategies, tactics, processes, standards and policies and procedures for maintaining the mall to internationally recognized standards.
Determine processes and outputs to be outsourced; prepare and disseminate RFI’s, prepare RFP technical elements; recommend bidder’s list; participate in technical evaluation of bidders; define required contract SLA’s spanning all FF&E of the commercial (excluding tenants), public and office facilities.
Undertake a waste management assessment and define opportunities to reduce and recycle solid and liquid wastes; contract remedies and opportunities for improvement with appropriate 3rd parties; stimulate supporting community initiatives and undertakings to promote best practices.
Manage outsourced landscaping services, internally and externally.
Evaluate feasibility of contemporary best practice applications and processes.
Prepare and manage OPEX, CAPEX budgets, variance analysis, remedial action planning and implementation.
Prepare, analyze and defend consumption statistics and status of recycling initiatives.
Devise the appropriate cleaning strategies, tactics and processes for all internal and external facilities including car parks and signage; devise and implement water conservation program.
Proactive and direct monitoring of 3rd party contractual performance and the resulting standards, necessitating extensive, continuous mobility throughout the mall.
Devise and implement a 1,300 seat food-court management strategy to accommodate over 10,000 daily.
Participate as Mall Duty Manager (evenings/shifts/weekends), as required
Comply with Estidama 2 Pearl standards; respond to COSHH regulations and standards.
Ensure complete compliance with all health and safety requirements (including heights) associated with environmental services.

Requirements

Business capabilities:
Extensive experience in the cleaning and landscaping management of high traffic, expansive public facilities.
Able to conceive and implement strategic asset operational management plan.
Clear and strong leadership skills to ensure the effective management of contract services delivering environmental services within the facility.
Bottom-line oriented with the ability to control costs and maximize efficiencies. Ability to negotiate and manage existing contractual agreements.
Well-developed negotiation and analytical skills.

Demonstration of cross cultural communication, motivational and interpersonal skills at an individual and team level.
Highly technical, incisive, self-motivated, comfortable in a dynamic working environment. Has managed and retained successful teams.

Education:
BSc in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering; TBC
