Duties & Responsibilities
The responsibilities and essential job functions and duties of the Assistant Manager include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
• Provides legal assistance to the General Counsel by acting in a supporting role, gathering and evaluating relevant facts, researching applicable laws and providing recommendations to the General Counsel on legal issues related to the business of the Bank;
• Under the supervision of the General Counsel, draft, reviews, critiques and negotiates contracts and diverse legal documents; and
• Assists the General Counsel with company secretarial duties (including attendance at board or other board-like meetings / functions in an official or unofficial capacity), compliance and regulatory issues by ensuring that the Bank complies with regulatory requirements and with commercial and contractual obligations;
• Assists the General Counsel in managing (i.e. identifying, assessing, reporting and controlling) legal risks associated with the business activities of the Bank;
• Under the direction of the General Counsel, liaises with external counsel and provides proactive legal support and ensures that legal approval is sought when appropriate; and
• Carries out legal assignments requiring substantive legal knowledge in diverse practice areas.

Requirements

Minimum Education Requirements
The Assistant Manager must hold a BA or MA in Law, preferably from a UK / US University. In addition, the Assistant Manager is expected to be admitted to practice in the Kingdom of Bahrain or a foreign country as an attorney or a counselor at law or the equivalent.
Minimum Years Professional Experience
The Assistant Manager shall have at least four years or more of related professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
The Assistant Manager is expected to possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Possess an excellent command of the English and Arabic languages, including a demonstrated skill to draft and negotiate legal documents in English and Arabic;
• Knowledge of applicable local laws, policies and regulations;
• Posses a positive attitude and strong communications skills;
• Ability to perform sophisticated legal analysis and strong writing skills; and
• Ability to demonstrate clear understanding of legal ethics and the ability to use good judgment and discretion, including confidentiality.
