CH2M HILL Assistant Resident Engineer - Abu Dhabi, UAE

Job Purpose

This position provides specialized support through the application of technical skills, to the delivery of CH2M HILL services.
The Assistant Resident Engineer Civil provides construction supervision services on the civil aspects of the project to ensure that the design documentation is safely and accurately implemented on site, and that the requirements of the construction contract are followed.
The Assistant Resident Engineer Civil reports to the Resident Engineer responsible for the project, and supervises the works inspectors.

Job Responsibilities

Your priorities in this role will include:
Assist the Resident Engineer in performing the contractual duties on site.
Assist the Resident Engineer in the management and direction of a team of Civil Engineers and Inspectors for the supervision of the construction of the designs.
Assists the Resident Engineer in reporting on progress, safety, financial recommendations, and quality control and design modifications.
Builds a trusted relationship with the management team and with the client's counterpart staff.
Establishes an appropriate working relationship with the contractors.
Places an emphasis on safe construction practices (Target Zero) and on maintaining a high quality of construction. Leads by example in driving safe practices on site.
Assists the Resident Engineer in monitoring progress of construction against the programme, and takes steps to ensure the programme is achieved.
Ensures that the project quality control procedures are used for the supervision works and monitors it for improvement. Cooperates with audits required in accordance with the contract requirements and Halcrow's internal systems.
Contributes to the safety and build-ability reviews of the proposed designs.
Evaluates, selects, and adapts construction management and control techniques, procedures, and criteria to suit job tasks, and devises and implements solutions to problems encountered.
Ensures that the Construction Supervision team members effectively identify manage and report project risks.

Requirements

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess:

Recent previous experience (within last 5 years) as an Assistant Resident Engineer for potable water network projects (both Ductile iron and HDPE pipe materials), and are ideally located in the Middle East region.
Experience in the construction supervision of wet and dry utilities on complex projects.
Minimum 10 years' post graduate experience in the design, site supervision and construction management of major water projects.
Have a BSc in Civil Engineering from an internationally recognized and accredited university.
Understand the aspects of site supervision and construction management of complex water projects.
Be enthusiastic about improving the safety performance of site operations in Abu Dhabi.
Be able to communicate effectively with site teams and motivate them to meet the project objectives.
Good leadership skills, and be able to work in a multi-cultural and multi-discipline team.
Excellent communication and report writing skills, and good presentation skills in English.
Written and spoken Arabic skills are beneficial but not essential.
ADDC approval required.
The candidate must have a UAE driving licenses
