Assistant Shift Charge Engineer

Job description / Role

Reporting to SCE.The Assistant Shift Charge Engineer (ASCE) will be responsible for leading an Operations Shift Team and operating the plant from CCR or from the field if required to ensure the plant meets the required availability, reliability, efficiency, generation and cost targets, safely and within strict environmental limits.

This will include responsibility for making accurate and timely decisions on matters affecting plant processes and performance and consulting with SCE and Operations Manager when necessary.

The role will require a detailed understanding and practical experience of the technologies associated to operating a modern Gas Turbine plant, Steam turbines in combined cycle operation and a wide range of auxiliary equipment.

Requirements

- A degree in Control Instrumentation, Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics is required for this role.
- Thorough understanding of modern CCGT plant practice.
- Good foundation and practical knowledge of power plant operations, preferably including electrical systems.
- Power plant engineering concepts.
- Ability to operate the plant efficiently within a varying range of load conditions
- Ability to control incidents in a range of situations.
- Strong understanding of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment management systems and safety rules.
- Working knowledge of commercial contracts and agreements (PPA, GSA etc)
- Exposure of Budget and cost control.
- Good command of the English language.
- Computer literacy.
- Possesses the ability to liaise with external organisations.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
