The Role


POSITION :

Within the general organization, the job holder reports to the Store Manager or Sales/Operations Manager acting as Store Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES :

The Assistant Store Manager’s responsibilities must be to effectively second the Store Manager’s functions, knowing how to identify and develop a loyal clientele, Supervise and stimulate the sales team, Manage the operations generated by the store’s activity.

1- CUSTOMER RELATIONS

The Assistant Store Manager must, similarly to the sales associates/advisors, be frequently present on the floor in order to be in close contact with the customers and thus contribute to the development of customers.

This entails:

Offering a superior quality of after-sales service by supervising repairs, home deliveries, renovations, the settlement of complaints,

Handling special orders and collaborating closely with the product departments so as to:

- Study the technical feasibility of the order,
- Establish an estimate
- Present the customer with a proposal of price and delay.

2 - SUPERVISION OF THE TEAM

The Assistant Store Manager must be directly involved in the mobilization of the sales team by helping the Store Manager create a stimulating climate of well being, as well as a harmonious relationship between collaborators :

To decide on, with the Store Manager, the store’s optimal organization and to assign each sales associate responsibility that is best adapted to his/her competencies.

To participate in the recruitment of shop assistants (temporary contracts, long term contracts and trainees), working closely with the HR and Sales / Operations Departments,

To be involved in the subjects chosen for internal training (general knowledge of the company, knowledge of raw materials and of products...) and for external training (language courses, sales techniques...) working closely with the HR and Sales / Operations Departments

To organize, with the Store Manager, regular informal meetings with the sales team to provide the opportunity for exchanges in the aim of assessing the functioning of the store,

To ensure that the codes of discipline are being respected.

To work with the Manager in the training of the Brand methods of sale:

- friendly and rapid reactions
- additional sales
- coherence with the « Brand spirit »
- application of the administrative procedures
- complete knowledge of the products and the crafts
- security for the goods

To inform the Manager of, and provide recommendations for, possible relational problems within the sales team, and other notable facts which could put the harmonious running of the store in jeopardy.

3 - STORE MANAGEMENT

The Assistant Store Manager is the guarantor of the procedures set up by the operational services of the head office, and looks after their optimal application by the collaborators:

- To establish and check the management reports required by the Sales / Operations Department and assure that they are forwarded according to the desired periodicity.

- To empty and total the cash register daily, in conformity with the company’s administrative and accounting regulations; supervise the cashier and follow up on his/her daily work,

- To continuously check the correct use of internal management files and documents,

- To participate in the annual elaboration of the budget proposal and of the re-estimation of the budget (purchases, sales, staff) as well as the definition of investments (work, upkeep),

- To second the Manager in the bi-annual purchases during the presentation of the collections to the buyers,

- To make use of the services of the Stores Back Offices Teams by working together and developing an exchange of information on production and delivery dates in order to maintain a healthy and optimal level of stock for customer service ; supervise the store stock team (when it exists) and follow up on its daily work,

- To establish a staff schedule taking into account the diverse absences (paid leave, maternity leave, parental leave...) and the store’s seasonal activity all while conforming to the budget, in order to provide the customer with their due quality of service,

- To carry out (according to the desired periodicity) inventory of stock, assuring that:

a - There is simultaneous movement
b - The production figures are trustworthy

- To assist the Store Manager in his/her duty of providing continual feedback on the level of activity, the customer’s reactions to each collection, the rhythm of deliveries...to orient the Product Department’s choices and decisions.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

- Achievement of the budgetary objectives (turnover and results)

- To act as an example towards the sales associates / advisors on all his/her areas of responsibilities

- Motivation and involvement of the sales team; harmonious relations

- Efficient and steady cooperation with the Store Manager

- Quality, consistency and openness in the information transmitted.

Requirements


Requirements


University degree, preferred in Business Management.
Minimum experience of 3 years as an Assistant Store Manager or Supervisor in a Retail / Luxury environment.
Leadership, communication, time management and negotiation skills.
Fluent in read, written and spoken English.
Speaking Arabic is a plus.
Team player and friendly.
Smart presentation.
25 years old and above.
