The RoleThe RoleThe jobholder will be responsible for managing underwriting functions on a daily basis and establishing the operational procedures, in line with the corporate objectives. The jobholder will ensure proper assessment and underwriting of new business, renewals and endorsements in accordance with the established company procedures and standards. Main Responsibilities: 1) Management of underwriting functions on a daily basis and proper guidance and assistance to subordinates. 2) Assist the Head of Unit - Marine U/W in development of the portfolio profitably. 3) Interact with various stakeholders such as Customers, Marketing Depts. Branches and other distribution channels - For attending queries / issues, managing relationships, facilitating sales and appropriate communications. 4) Preparation of monthly and quarterly management reports and statistics and carryout analysis to identify areas which need attention and make necessary recommendations. 5) Sets guidelines for specific product classes including policy wordings, conditions, and clauses. 6) Review and evaluate major accounts and tenders. 7) Develop and maintain strong awareness of local regional markets and the regulatory environment and share relevant updates with the team. |
RequirementsRequirementsUniversity qualifications: Graduate degree preferably in Science, Insurance, Risk management, Accountancy, Law. Other certifications: Professional insurance qualifications either FIII or ACII or similar. Previous experience: Minimum 10 years industry experience, with at least 5 years in Marine Underwriting in a managerial or similar capacity. Specialist knowledge: Advanced knowledge and understanding of Marine Cargo and Hull underwriting and preferably understanding of Energy as well, though not essential. Other Skills: 1) Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft Office. 2) Strong customer service orientation. 3) Strong analytical ability & strong problem solving and decision making capabilities. 4) Strong leadership skills and team building ability & Strong influencing and interpersonal skills. Ideal Age Range : 30 - 45 Gender Preference : Any Nationality Preference: Any Language Skills : Strong result orientation & excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic (preferable).
