Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The purpose of this role is to develop and lead the DM Team in Abu Dhabi and across the Middle East (GCC countries; KSA, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and the United Arab of Emirates) and to provide support to Architects and AECOM Design Teams in the management of the design process.

Key responsibilities will include;
- Establish excellent relationships with the AECOM Middle East senior management team for all design disciplines and secure DM involvement in major projects from the outset.
- Get close to the key external designers in Middle East and win new DM commissions.
- Manage the DM team in Abu Dhabi (following successful implementation of bullet one).
- Manage the DM Business Planning and Business Development across the Middle East.
- Be responsible for securing pre-agreed financial targets with appropriate margins and utilisation to meet the business plan objectives for the Middle East DM team.
- Take responsibility for DM fee negotiation, scope definition and DM sub-contract appointments..
- Prepare appropriate marketing material, articles for publication and participate in speaking engagements, networking events and conferences on behalf of the DM team in the Middle East.
- Continue to develop the DM offer by attending appropriate CDP events and maintain research and development to ensure the DM toolkit is current, relevant and beyond scrutiny.

Requirements

The job holder will be expected to have a previous experience of running Design Teams and an understanding and empathy of the design process. Additionally, working within a team environment would be beneficial to the role.

- Educated to Degree level in Design Management of equivalent.
- Recognised skills in carrying out a management role from a Lead designers perspective
- Clear understanding of the Design process
- Project and design programming skills
- Excellent communication skills

The jobholder will be expected to display a range of competencies, both behavioural and technical in undertaking the role. These are included in the Design Management Induction Plan.

Evidence of these being displayed will be reviewed as part of the Performance Review process and training and development needs agreed as appropriate.
