Program Description:

The Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee (Q22SC) has committed to delivering a "carbon-neutral" 2022 FIFA World Cup TM Qatar as well as leaving a sustainable legacy that supports the four pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030: Human Development, Social Development, Economic Development and Environmental Development. The Delivery Programme's Sustainability Team (âSustainability Team) will have the responsibility to support the delivery of these commitments by integrating sustainability into all aspects of the programme management framework and managing the sustainability activities throughout the life of the programme.

The small size of the Sustainability Team will require that all team members be very flexible and willing to take on new challenges and assume responsibility for an evolving scope of work. Each member of the Sustainability Team will be expected to take ownership of one or more of the key responsibilities listed below, and support the other team members in the overall effort.

The Delivery Programme's Sustainability Team will coordinate with the sustainability resources of the project management team(s), planning team(s), design team(s), construction team(s), and operations team(s) for each of the many projects that make up the programme. This will require that each member of the Sustainability Team have the ability to manage the activities of multiple project teams simultaneously, have a thorough understanding of the management of both large scale programmes and individual projects, have a deep knowledge of sustainability, and understands industry best practices and emerging technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DELIVERY PROGRAMME SUSTAINABILITY TEAM:

Development and implement the overall sustainability strategy for the 2022 FIFA World Cup TM Qatar Programme to ensure a sustainable legacy

Develop and implement the carbon management strategy to achieve a "Carbon-Neutral" tournament

Manage programme and project specific feasibility studies or site plans to ensure the overall success of the sustainability strategy

Manage the sustainability aspects of the programmes Performance Management Framework including the development of the programme level and project specific sustainability requirements (Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Progress Indicators (PIs), Targets)

Monitor & report on programme level KPIs and the project specific KPIs and PIs (supported by the project teams)

Participate in procurement of master planning services, design services, construction, operations, specialty consultants, etc, by embedding the sustainability requirements into the procurement documents, and ensuring that the sustainability requirements are met through the technical review and recommendations process

Ensure that the sustainability requirements of each project are met throughout the lifecycle of the project through the planning, design, construction, operations and legacy conversion phases. This will require sustainability compliance evaluation and participation in several programme functions including but not limited to Design Management (brief management, technical coordination, design review, etc), Construction Management, Tournament Operations, etc.

Assist project teams (PMs, master planners, design teams, construction teams) with the development of sustainable solutions

Monitor and assist the project team(s) with their "sustainability" certification efforts (QSAS Neighborhoods, QSAS Sports, etc.)

Develop and implement a "Green" supply chain framework

Assist with the development of the cooling strategy for the programme, and participate in the integration of the cooling technology into the precincts and projects

Develop the renewable energy production strategy and manage the implementation of the strategy throughout the programme

Support the Q22SC in the development and implementation of legacy strategies related to social, human, economic sustainability

Prepares and make presentations related to the sustainability aspects of the programme

Understand sustainability requirements of local legislation, international best practice and standards, and ensure that they are complied with throughout the programme. Consult local officials and agencies if and when necessary

Manage workload of Sustainability Team to ensure timely delivery and high quality workflow

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

Key qualifications for this position include:

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Environmental or Sustainability related discipline and a qualified member of a recognized institution or organisation (to include but not be limited to: AIA, RIBA, LEED, BREEAM, CEEQUAL, QSAS, etc) with at least

15 years of experience with at least 10 years post qualification experience

Wide and in-depth knowledge of sustainability in all of its forms

Sustainability specific professional registration

Flexible and innovative thinker, creative problem solver, and team player

Preferred

Master's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Environmental or Sustainability Discipline

In depth knowledge of accreditation systems and qualified assessor or similar for at least one system (e.g. QSAS, LEED, BREEAM, CEEQUAL, etc)

Demonstrated experience in sustainable design, procurement and construction methods

Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
