Job description / Role
ABOUT CLIENT:
One of the largest drilling contractors in the Middle East, providing its customers with quality drilling, workover and well maintenance services.
JOB PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Barge Engineer is the overall responsible for the Marine Section and answers directly to the OIM.
To supervise and co-ordinate the provision of various support services on assigned marine rig covering loading/offloading and movement of cargo on the rig, jacking controls, ballast, safety environment and firefighting equipment and teams, cleaning and painting together with all marine equipment on board.
To act as the focal point on the rig for accountability of maintenance by means of applying the Preventive Maintenance Schedule (PMS).
To take charge of the rig during rig moves by manning jacking controls and ensuring that all equipment is secured and ballasting is correct. To monitor, co-ordinate and maintain associated records of all preventive maintenance activity on an assigned rig.
Requirements
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
B.Sc. Marine Engineering or equivalent
7 years related experience preferably on Rigs similar to Jack-up rigs out of which minimum 3+ years in have Drilling Experience
Certificate of competency STCW II/2 (unlimited)
Certificate of competency as Unit Security Officer according to the International Ship and Port security Code part A and B
