Employment: Full Time

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and qualified Bid Manager to join our Railway Division.

The Bid Manager is to successfully manage the work winning pipeline process from opportunity identification to contract award and hand-over to operations for execution within the Railway Division. You should be able to develop, promote and implement pre-contract and commercial strategies and improvements for the Railway Division as a whole.

Job responsibilities include:

1. Work with the Client to understand their drivers, issues, expectations and design requirements.
2. Understand competitive advantages and disadvantages and develop a bid strategy.
3. Participate as a key member of the bid team taking ownership of the estimate and other elements as directed.
4. Based on the project design/plans, accurately cost projects incorporating detailed bills of quantities.
5. Analysis of risks and opportunities prior to final submission.
6. Thoroughly analyze supplier and trade cost
7. Ensure the project contract is consistent with the estimated project design/plan, prior to signature.
8. Ensure Project Manager is fully briefed on client and key design/cost issues.
9. Ensure regular communication with Project Managers to monitor achieved costs relative to cost plan estimates.
10. Research, Retain and Expand Subcontractor networks in accordance with Company policies and procedures; form strategic alliances and/or partnerships where required to improve competitive position.

Requirements

Who we are looking for:

1. Minimum 10 years' experience in Railway or construction projects in Tendering/Bidding Function, 3 years at Team Lead or managerial level.
2. Bachelor degree or higher in Civil, Railway Engineering or QS.
3. Must have a strong commercial acumen and commercial awareness
4. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
5. The ability to liaise with clients in order to ascertain needs and expectations before tender.
6. The ability to accurately cost projects based on design and plans
7. Successfully negotiate and win contracts at budgeted margin
8. Computer literacy on an estimating software package.
