Job description / Role
An exciting opportunity has arrisen for a bilingual paralegal to work for an international law firm based in Dubai.
Main duties and responsibilities:
•Drafting court pleadings in various Emirates in Arabic;
•Drafting memoranda and responses to expert reports in Arabic;
•Drafting various legal documents, including powers of attorney in a bilingual form;
•Analyse and research specific cases/matters of interest in relation to cases/ matters when requested and provide updates in relation to the same;
•Check the various courts' websites regularly and provide internal updates in relation to all pending cases;
•Attend expert meetings and government bodies where appropriate;
•File court pleadings online;
•Prepare memoranda and exhibits ready to file before the relevant courts;
•Translation of documents from Arabic to English and vice versa, if required (including co-ordinating with external translation agencies);
•Provide summary translations of documentation if required;
•Assist Arabic speaking clients with queries;
•Liaise with employees of local advocacy firms and provide any necessary co-ordination;
•Provide administrative support for lawyers, and help with the day-to-day tasks involved in operating a legal firm;
•Track deadlines for legal Litigation matters and hearings;
•Follow the firm's established procedures to collect, review, and maintain information on conflict procedures and compliance risk management
Requirements
•Strong academics, educated to degree level.
•Experience in working in a client facing role.
•Experience working within a law firm or other professional services organisation is essential.
•Experience in bank litigation.
•Reasonable degree of knowledge of UAE laws and the Court systems of the Emirates.
•Must be able to read, write and speak English and Arabic
