Accounting / Finance - Dubai, UAE

The Accounts Dept., a western-owned accounting company, is recruiting a full-time Bookkeeper to join our team.

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for full accounting functions for assigned clients, working with team members to perform the following duties. These duties will be performed in our offices; no on-site client visits will be required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process client data such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory,payroll, general ledger and cash accounts, mainly in QuickBooks Online.
- Prepare vouchers, invoices, cheques account statements, reports, and other records, make coding decisions and review for accuracy.
- Prepare client accounts receivable invoicing in accordance with client requirements and contracts.
- Perform collection activities with customers of client.
- Process cheque transactions received by customers of client and properly record them in accounts receivable.
- Verify and determine proper classification for clients business transactions and post details to the appropriate ledgers in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare and post month end accrual entries.
- Audit invoices against purchase orders, agreements, and contracts. Research discrepancies, and advise supervisor of discrepancies.
- Investigate and resolve problems that clients have with vendors
- Make recommendations on appropriate cost-effective internal control procedures.
- Prepare and process payroll for clients utilizing various computerized payroll systems.
- Responsible for maintaining client files on our premises.
- Process periodic and year-end transactions
- Responsible for achieving utilization levels set by Management.
- Prepare client financials and/or custom reports for month end review.

Requirements

- Bachelors degree (B.A.) or equivalent; or five or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of two years experience in working in a public accounting firm in a similar bookkeeper role: ie working on a variety of clients books.
- A minimum of two years of local UAE work experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, in English.
- Conscious of the need to work promptly and efficiently to meet customers needs.
- Ability to initiate common inquiries of customers, vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to understand the unique accounting circumstances of businesses in different industries.
- Ability to multi-task effectively and manage multiple client accounts.
- Ability to work under pressure and complete projects by deadlines.
- Ability to employ time management skills in order to effectively complete job assignments unsupervised.
- Ability to exercise good judgement when making decisions and to know when to ask for further direction.
- Part qualified with a recognized accounting qualification would be an advantage.
- Ability to identify problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions.
- A comprehensive understanding of accrual accounting.
- Must be able to keep client matters strictly confidential.
- Good Excel skills
- Strong experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Spreadsheets, Quickbooks, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Bank Reconciliation.
