The Role


Range of Responsibility:

The Branches & Investigations Audit Manager responsible to conducting specific audit assignments under the guidance of the Chief Audit Officer. He is responsible for contributing to the business audit review process by planning, conducting and monitoring comprehensive evaluations of internal controls over the Bank’s branches areas. Ensure that the Branches is in full compliance with the Bank’s policies and procedures and the rules and regulations of the respective regulatory authorities and the Banking Industry’s best practices

Other essential duties include
• Assist in establishing policies and procedures of the Audit Division mission and objectives.
• Understands and reviews the core banking system functionalities to ensure the sufficiency of control on Branches activities to lower the chance of enter incorrect data/making mistakes or duplicating accounts.
• Undertakes special assignments as required involving investigations into forgeries, falsely filled forms, and mistakes performed by officers or supervisors and reports findings to the Chief Audit Officer.
• Responsible for scheduling and conducting field audits and inspections for the Consumer Banking. Encompass the Branch Support, Consumer Finance, Regional Management, Sales Optimization and Private Banking.
• Prepares annual internal audit plan and timetable, which takes into account the inherent risks by area of activity and location and obtains the approval of the Chief Audit Officer such programs.
• Monitors the progress of work in relation to the work plan.
• Submits formal reports to the Chief Audit Officer on all audit findings, adequacy of Bank policies of internal controls, effectiveness of the management’s utilization of resources and control over the operations and remedial action required to overcome operating weaknesses or lapses.
• Reviews and reports whether authority delegated within the Bank is sufficient enough to eliminate constraints on prompt customer service.
• Works closely with top management of Consumer Support to develop audit findings and recommendations regarding business process optimization, profit improvement, internal control and compliance.
• Maintains the development of risk assessments and Audit plans for Branches.
• Identifies the Branches risk and exposure with respect to size, business lines, customer base and geographic location.
• Creates policy for customer identification and verification procedures including checking SAMA lists.
• Creates procedures and reviews activities for monitoring suspicious activity including provisions for confidentiality, and improves the control structure and mechanism.
• Implements appropriate fraud deterrence and prevention measures to better protect investors, employees, and other stakeholders.
• Provides a mechanism for employees to report concerns about unethical behaviour, actual or suspected fraud, or violations of the entity’s code of conduct or ethics policy. The Chief Audit Officer should then receive periodic reports describing the nature, status, and eventual disposition of any fraud or unethical conduct.
• Conducts examinations to resolve allegations or suspicions of fraud, reporting either to an appropriate level of management or to the audit committee or board of directors, depending upon the nature of the issue and the level of personnel involved.
• Undertakes special assignments as required involving investigations into frauds, forgeries etc. and reports findings to the Chief Audit Officer.
• Advises the branches on regulatory developments and track changing compliance issues.
• Discusses and reports audit findings to this end and holds preliminary discussions of deficiencies with operating staff to verify facts, records and results

Education and Experience:

• University degree in accounting / related field or equivalent experience
• CPA certification, CIA certification is required.
• Requires extensive internal audit experience with at least some experience in a similar position in a leading financial institution
• Needs to be familiar with local laws and regulations
• High level of Arabic and English interpersonal skills and communication skills both written and oral

Must also have the following demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Knowledge of the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by The Institute of Internal Auditors.
• Skill in conducting quality control reviews of audit work products.
