Employment: Full Time

Objectives:
Ensure transportation services for bulk delivered by AL fleet and transporters are in line with safety, legal and effectiveness requirements by managing all activities related to the fleet, the drivers and the transporters.

The Transport and Fleet Manager has to work in a close relationship with the Dispatch team to ensure fleet readiness as per distribution needs and track transporters performance. He will have direct contact with Safety team and fleet maintenance team.

Main responsibilities:
- Oversees and Controls the services provided by the transporters
- Ensure fleet provided by transporters or third party is well maintained (tires and mechanical) and conform to AL required standard as per contractual agreement
- Audits vehicles and subcontractors for compliance with safety rules and contractual terms (transportation and maintenance),
- Ensures that regulations are properly followed and that the corresponding paper work is accurate and up to date (drive cam, driving time, speed limits, hazardous materials, etc)
- Ensures transporters progress reviews: monthly at operational level and quarterly at high-level (contract)
- Defines, negotiates and manages the transportation contracts for outsourced transportation, in coordination with the procurement organization
- Manages activities related to AL vehicles maintenance (tractor heads/flatbeds/trailers)
- Plans ahead AL fleet maintenance needs (in coordination with maintenance team) while accommodating forecasted volume variations and follow up on maintenance achievements
- Schedules removal from services of trailers for maintenance in coordination with the dispatch team
- Performs technical audits and controls management, quality, maintenance costs of the entire fleet to ensure the conformity with internal standards and policies
- Manages the training for the drivers
- Supervises and trains drivers with respect to operating procedures, regulations, safety and quality.
- He is responsible for keeping all of the information concerning the drivers qualifications up to date
- Manages some human resources aspects (if applicable, own AL drivers for example) such as work shifts, vacation coverage.
- Works jointly with the Dispatch team
- Adjusts the fleet of tractors/trailers to the distribution needs and leverage the contractual terms of transportation agreements
- Summarizes fleet evolution needs prior to transportation contract re-negotiation,
- Addresses accessibility and safety issues at customer sites (involves Safety Manager)
- Supports quality, efficiency, safety improvement and IMS compliance
- Investigates traffic accident and supply interruption and participates in the development of corrective action plans
- Determines discrepancies with respect to product losses and productivity and develops corrective plans
- Respects and ensures respect of policies, standards and procedures
- Makes sure to implement adequate corrective & preventive measures in response to customer claims
- Communicates and follow-up on the implementation of procedures, special programs, training, technical advice and safety alerts with respects to laws, regulation, internal standard and ADR regulation
- Analysis the vehicles utilization at least twice a year and if needed, review fleet allocation
- Ensure fleet Asset management at regional level in terms of fleet performance and investment justifications.

Requirements

- College or Bachelor Diploma in Road Transportation Management, General Management or Engineering.
- 3 to 5 years experience in the Transportation Industry.
- Knowledge level in fleet maintenance (mechanical and Cryogenic).
- Knowledge level in road transportation (standards, legislation, drivers competency, road safety).
- Knowledge level in BAG handling and operation.
- Good Negotiation Skills.
