Business Development Advisor

Job description / Role

BPs business in the Middle East is growing to an inflection point, as a result of growth options including renewal of concessions in Abu Dhabi, expansion in Oman, engagement in Kuwait and other options in Iraq. Hence there is a need to grow business development capability in the region to enable such growth potential.

The candidate will work as a member of a small team and will be expected to be a self starter able to take accountability for their own delivery. Success will depend on engaging with informal and multidisciplinary teams to create an deliver business cases. Good team working and interpersonal skills are vital as well as the ability to deal with uncertainty and deliver to tight deadlines.

The candidate will be an ambassador for BP in the Region able to engage externally at a range of levels and environments.

Longer term the candidate could expect to move to other senior commercial roles in the Middle East Region.

Identify business development opportunities, structure commercially attractive deals, deliver negotiations and execute agreements in line with internal approvals. With the key accountabilities:

Input
- Identify business development opportunities
- Develop business case for such opportunities
- Local industry context including competitor intelligence and customer needs
- Provide analytical support during at front end of the deal and during negotiations

Recommend
- Optimum negotiating strategy
- Agreement frameworks
- Agreements content in line with internal approvals
- Negotiating tactics

Perform
- Identify business development opportunities
- Counterparty relationship management

Requirements

- Bachelor degree in business administration or finance
- Minimum of 5 year experience in oil and gas industry with commercial experience
- Fluency in Arabic language
- Must be UAE or Omani national
- MBA or EMBA preferred
