DETAILS OF POSITION
Position Title: Business Development Manager
Department: Strategic Planning - Business Development
Country: Kuwait
Reports to (Position Title): VP Business Development

POSITION OBJECTIVE / PURPOSE:
To support the company’s growth in Exploration & Production through asset and corporate acquisition, farmin and bidding round participation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Identifies, analysis and researches potential strategic opportunities
• Formulates and recommends business opportunities, strategy, tactics, and policy for the company
• Project leads technical evaluation of acquisition targets and bid round evaluations by pooling all internal resources and external consultants
• Follows the KE Way procedures on project management
• Is the key contact with new business targets and overall management of the process together with VP Business Development.
• Makes initial financial, strategic and cultural fit comparisons
• Leads due diligence and post-acquisition transition/assimilation teams; reviews presentations, speeches and written communication pieces for use by Top Management
• Researches companies and/or market segments containing the new business opportunities; reviews and summarises broad-scope market intelligence; recommends potential targets.
• Leads Strategic Planning/Business development meetings and summarises discussions, decisions and action items. Ensures follow-up is completed, ensures agreed upon tasks are completed in the agreed upon fashion and timeline
• Works in tandem with the VP – Business Development and selected investment bankers to identify corporate risk factors associated with the opportunity.
• Works with the VP – Business Development to prepare and present Board of Directors materials for pre-closing and post-closing acquisition reviews.
• Attends conferences to gather strategic intelligence/information on potential acquisition candidates; summaries findings, identifies areas of match to new business goals/strategy.
• Assumes temporary management duties of acquired companies until a more permanent solution is found.
• Performs additional duties as directed.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Minimum Academic Qualifications
Geosciences or Petroleum Engineering degree

Required Skills
• Direct experience in new business development, execution and integration
• Proven record of technical skills in either petroleum engineering or geosciences
• Experience in asset and company evaluations
• Thorough understanding of exploration activities and portfolio management
• Knowledge of strategic and financial analysis. Understanding of statistical concepts and tools
• Project management skills
• Persuasion, interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Excellent communication skills, able to relate and interact with teammates at all levels in the organisation
• Exercises good judgment with regard to highly confidential information
• Broad knowledge of disciplines such as strategy, marketing, finance and business administration
• Proactive with ability to conceive and implement creative solutions to complex problems and explain solutions in simple fashion
• Ability to work on numerous time-sensitive projects simultaneously without dropping any

Minimum Work Experience (specify # of years, type of experience, etc.)
• 5 years in related technical discipline
• 5 years in related strategy, business development and/or M&A role

ANY OTHER POSITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
Good communication skills in English a must
Ability to communicate in Arabic desired
