Job description / Role

We are working on a large scale project with a Semi-Government client based in Dubai. We are searching for several Buyers to join their expanding team. Over the past 30 years, our client has established itself as a leading, fast growing international player in the Offshore and Engineering, Ship Repair and Maintenance, Shipbuilding and Conversion, Rig building and refurbishment, FPSO/FSO conversion, offshore fabrication, Maritime Clusters and Yacht and Fleet operations with facilities in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Requirements

Main Responsibilities for the role:

* Sourcing Yard's requirement of materials by obtaining quotes from suitable Suppliers, negotiating with them and creating computerized purchase orders following evaluation of quotations obtained.
* To highlight to the materials control section regarding repetitive items being Purchased to enable creation of these items into stock.
* Monitoring outstanding purchase orders against estimated delivery dates and
Following up on the deliveries to ensure on time delivery.
* Preparing insurance claims for materials damaged or lost in transit.
* Liaison with Accounts Dept. in order to settle disputed invoices.
* Maintaining adequate correspondence files for all purchases.
* Liaison with user departments & Material Control Section to ensure correct Specifications are quoted on orders
* Ensure that the Safety, Quality & Environment requirements of the yard are strictly followed.
* Perform other job related duties as assigned by the section head.

Preferred Competencies:

* Degree or diploma holder in a technical field.
* A minimum of 5 years experience in buying in an industrial environment.
* Good spoken & written English.
* Computer literate.
* Sound knowledge of technical terminology, particularly that used in a marine Environment.
* Working knowledge of international trade & shipping terms.
