Job description / Role
- Provide high standards of disinfection, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage & distribution of medical and surgical items to operating theatres & wards in compliance with established policies & guidelines including infection protocols
- Decontaminates, assembles, processes, sterilizes, maintains and distributes surgical instruments and supplies
- Guidelines of International Patient Safety Goals and evidence based practice are adhered to
- Stock and equipment are managed and controlled according to hospital policy
- Departmental standards for quality and productivity are maintained
- Relevant CSSD reports and statistics are compiled and submitted according to requirements
- Professional ethics, Mediclinic values and caring standards are demonstrated in behavior
Requirements
- Graduate of Associate Degree in CSS technology of minimum two (2) years course duration OR
- Certificate in any health related field with Certification as a member with one of the following:
- Certification by the Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution ( CBSPD) USA http://www.sterileprocessing.org/ o International Association of Healthcare Central Services Material management (IAHCSMM) http://www.iahcsmm.org/
- Minimum 2 years experience in the field of Central Sterile Supply Department as a technician
- Must maintain certified status throughout the duration of employment
- Knowledge of General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardiac Surgery, Plastic Surgery, ENT, Dental, Ophthalmology, and Obs & Gyne surgical instrumentation
- Working knowledge of microbiology, infection control principles, sterilization practices and inventory management
- Basic knowledge of computer applications
