Central Control Room (CCR) Operator

Job description / Role

Reporting to the Shift Charge Engineer and ultimately to the Operations Manager.

The Control Room Engineer will be responsible for plant operations within the Operations Shift Team to ensure the plant meets the required availability, reliability, efficiency, generation and cost targets, safely and within strict environmental limits.

This will include regular equipment start-ups, shutdowns, changeovers and regular operation / monitoring, as well as responding to alarms and emergency conditions and initiating troubleshooting.

The role will require a detailed understanding and practical experience of the technologies associated to operating a modern Gas Turbine plant, and a wide range of auxiliary equipment.

Requirements

- A degree in Electrical, C&I or Mechanical Engineering (or) Industrial, military, marine or utility training in power generation (or) Accredited Engineering Diploma will be suitable if accompanied by the relevant experience
- Thorough understanding of modern CCGT plant practice.
- Good foundation and practical knowledge of power plant operations, preferably including electrical systems
- Power plant engineering concepts
- Ability to operate the plant efficiently within a varying range of load conditions
- Ability to control incidents in a range of situations
- Exposure of Budget and cost control
- Good command of the English language
- Computer literacy
- Possesses the ability to liaise with external organisations
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build and work with multi-cultural
