AL WAKRA HOSPITAL (AWH) , opened in 2011 and serves the rapidly growing towns of Al Wakra and Mesaieed. The six storey hospital has 301 beds.

Emergency Services
The Emergency Department (ED) services patients of all ages with acute injury, trauma, critical illness, obstetrics and gynecological needs as well as pediatric emergency cases. The ED is supported by Pharmacy, Laboratory and Radiology services, and operates 24 hours, seven days a week.

Day Care Services
Any procedures and surgeries that can be performed and completed on the same day are scheduled in the Day Care Facility. The Day Care Unit is open from 7am to 3pm, Sunday to Thursday.

Outpatient Clinics
The Outpatient Department is open from 7am to 3pm, five days a week, Sunday to Thursday. Outpatient Services are available for walk-in patients with urgent referral as well as for patients with booked appointments. The following services are available:

- Ear, Nose & Throat

Dialysis Center
The Dialysis Center serves patients in need of routine care, but who do not require hospitalization.

Rehabilitation and other services
- Occupational therapy
- Physical therapy
- Dietary consultation
- Social services.

Job Summary
The Charge Midwife assists in managing the patient care unit for administrative and clinical aspects to include organizing, developing, directing and assuring the delivery of cost effective, quality patient care.

She/he assists in the process which ensures that patient care is delivered in accordance with established corporate wide policies and procedures, nursing standards, guidelines and protocols and the HMC Code of Professional Behaviour and Ethics for Nurses and Midwives.

They provide education to staff based on theoretical and clinical expertise. This position will be accountable to ensure clinical resource and continuity of patient care during her/his duty hours.

Requirements

- Bachelor of Science in Midwifery and/or post graduate award leading to, or in addition to, a valid license that meets the requirements for licensing in the State of Qatar.
- Valid license from the country of origin AND be eligible for license in the Supreme Council for Health State of Qatar
- Relevant life support/resuscitation certificates preferred, but there will opportunity to undertake as part of orientation
- A minimum of 3 years post midwife registration clinical experience in a clinically relevant specialty
- Evidence of management/leadership tasks or functions
- English reading, writing, spoken proficient (essential)
- Arabic (preferred)
- Competent IT skills that enable online literature searching, and presentation of feedback/learning to peers using powerpoint and/or word programs.
